Speaker: Erin Ryan, Archivist at the Robinson-Spangler Carolina Room
The Wing Haven Foundation records collection at the Robinson-Spangler Carolina Room spans over one hundred years, including decades of correspondence between Elizabeth and Eddie Clarkson, personal materials belonging to the couple, ephemera from early Charlotte businesses, Wing Haven press coverage, Foundation official documents, photographs, slides, and more.
Erin Ryan describes how she approached the task of arranging the vast amount of material and making it accessible for research use—and shares some of the most interesting items she found during the process. These materials tell the story of Wing Haven’s transition from a private home in 1927 into the nonprofit organization it is today.
This evening lecture series is part of Wing Haven's Centennial Celebration and is offered in conjunction with the Historic Landmarks Department.
