The Mecklenburg County Parks team uncovered the remains of an old swimming pool that was once part of Sunset Park while renovating the current-day L.C. Coleman Park. About the Speaker: Brandon Lunsford has been the Historian at Mecklenburg County Parks and Recreation since 2025, and has focused on connecting communities with places and spaces around Charlotte. Before he arrived at the county, Brandon had been the University Archivist at the James B. Duke Memorial Library at Johnson C. Smith University. He received his MLIS with a concentration in Archives from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, an MA in Public History with a concentration in Historic Preservation from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and a BA in History from UNCC. He wrote Charlotte Then and Now for Anova Books and Thunder Bay Press in 2008 and completed revised editions in 2012 and 2015.
