Mecklenburg County’s designated historic landmarks can tell you a lot about the history of education in the area. Tommy Warlick, Historic Preservation Specialist at the Historic Landmarks Department, will take us on a history tour—from private tutors in the 1820s to the present—by exploring properties such as Historic Rosedale and Davidson College, Depression-era agricultural school buildings, UNC Charlotte, and the home of founder Bonnie Cone, and much more.
Learn about the significance and backstory of many of the buildings that are still standing in our daily lives, as well as changes in education in the county across time.
This evening lecture series is part of Wing Haven's Centennial Celebration and is offered in conjunction with the Historic Landmarks Department.
