Camp Wing Haven - Protocols

Safety

In addition to our regular safety measures, we have developed the following protocols based on the guidelines from the CDC and NC Department of Health and Human Services:

  • Illness: We ask that you keep your child home if they are showing signs or symptoms of being sick.

  • Thunder/Lightning: Per our Thunderstorm Protocol, all campers, volunteers, and staff will be safely protected inside our buildings during a thunderstorm or lightning sighting.

Camper Drop-off / Pick-up Instructions

Pick-up and Drop-off times are staggered to minimize traffic on Ridgewood Avenue. See below for your scheduled drop-off and pick-up time:

Morning Drop-off Period: 8:30-9:00 a.m.
8:30-8:45 a.m. - Last Names A-L
8:45-9:00 a.m. - Last Names M-Z

Afternoon Pick-Up: 4:00-4:30 p.m.
4:00-4:15 p.m. - Last Names A-L
4:15-4:30 p.m. - Last Names M-Z

Drop-off Procedure (morning):

  • Plan to drive down the right side of Ridgewood Avenue, coming from Selwyn towards Westfield, so that the passenger side is closest to our sidewalk.

  • Stop on the street in front of the opening to the driveway to 260 Ridgewood Avenue where you see the sign "CAMP WING HAVEN - STOP HERE." , but do not enter. Park your car and wait for our camp staff member to approach your vehicle. There may be another vehicle in front of you; only proceed once they have left the parked area.

  • Please roll down the passenger side window to check-in your child with a staff member. Your child will be asked to exit the car with their own belongings in hand.

  • Once your child is safely away from your vehicle, please proceed down Ridgewood Ave.

  • If you and your child are walking to camp, follow the same procedures from the sidewalk. Please stay on the sidewalk until your child has been checked in by a Camp Director.

  • Campers will be asked to deposit their own belongings in a designated area in the parking lot and then walk ("fly," hop, waddle, or bounce if they want!) back to where the adventure begins!

Pick-up Procedure (afternoon):

  • Drive down the right side of Ridgewood Avenue in the same fashion as morning drop off.

  • Stop on the street in front of the driveway to 260 Ridgewood Avenue where you see the sign "CAMP WING HAVEN - STOP HERE." Put your car in park and wait for our camp staff member to approach your vehicle. There may be another vehicle in front of you; only proceed once they have left the parked area.

  • If you and your child are walking to camp, follow the same procedures from the sidewalk.

  • Our staff member will call your child to the pick up area where your child will grab their belongings and then hop in the car with you! Plan to see a dirty, exhausted child each day!
