Fall Trip: Montrose Garden, The Unique Plant, and The Camellia Forest Nursery

Wing Haven invites you to join us on a day trip for guided tours of three special gardens and nurseries in North Carolina's Triangle Area. Each unique in its own way. Light breakfast, lunch, beverages and snacks included.

$125/Wing Haven member; $150/Wing Haven non-member

Space is limited to the first 30 reservations. Price includes transportation, snacks and lunch. Rain or shine. Wear comfortable shoes for walking and dress for the weather.

Wing Haven will maintain a waitlist in the event the trip sells out. No refunds after Monday, September 9, unless we can fill spot from waitlist.

7:30 a.m. : Park Road Shopping Center, 4201 Park Rd, Charlotte, NC (Harris Teeter end close to the ATM kiosk); Coffee and muffins provided upon arrival.

Montrose Garden

8:00 a.m.: Board bus and depart for Montrose Garden

11:00 a.m.: Arrive at Montrose Garden

Montrose Garden is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The grounds include several 19th century buildings, a rock garden, scree garden, extensive woodland plantings, and large areas of sunny gardens with unique color and planting schemes. Unusual trees and trellises, fences, and arbors, designed and constructed by a local artist, enhance the gardens.

Join owner and host Nancy Goodwin who says, "Gardeners are optimists. We believe tomorrow or next week or next year will be better."

A selection of plants on the property are available for purchase at the end of the tour.

1:00 p.m. Arrive at The Unique Plant

The Unique Plant was founded in 1997 by Joann Currier on a beautiful four acre horse farm outside Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Enjoy a guided tour of this magical garden that combines great design with plant diversity.

2:30 p.m. Depart for The Camellia Forest Nursery

The Camellia Forest Nursery

3:00 p.m. Arrive at The Camellia Forest Nursery.

This true Chapel Hill institution's roots run 40 years deep and includes a fully operational Tea Garden in addition to numerous greenhouses and display gardens. This nursery specializes in camellias but also offers herbaceous perennials and a wide range of trees and shrubs of Asian origin.

4:00 p.m. Depart for Charlotte and enjoy fellowship, wine and nibbles on the bus

6:30 p.m. Arrive at Park Road Shopping Center
