Speaker: Rosemary Kinch
Rosemary Kinch will provide an overview on the wellness benefits of therapeutic horticulture through an interactive and hands-on presentation. In contrast to the different classifications of therapy provided by medical professionals, therapeutic horticulture prioritizes aspects of wellness for individuals by providing access to edible, non-toxic plants.
Therapeutic Horticulture appeals to human sensory enjoyment and experience, hopefully generating connections with the natural world. Those connections may create multiple relationships, dependent on the needs and desires of the individual. Just as horticulture itself functions best through its diverse communities, so therapeutic horticulture can encourage, support and be enjoyed by anyone.
Rosemary Kinch, a certified therapeutic horticulturalist, is a Wing Haven volunteer with an extensive background in all things horticulture and in environmental education.
